RECIPE | Rose Bath Salts

Rose, Ylang Ylang & Himalayan Pink Salt Bath Crystals
by Danielle Copperman

When I was a child, bath time only appealed to me if it involved toys and so many bubbles there was hardly space for me. Nowadays I replace the bubble bath with these crystals – a combination of remineralising salts, dried flower petals and aromatherapy oils – for a calmer and more restorative experience. This quantity is enough for two baths, or 6–8 for hand or foot soaks

300g Himalayan pink salt
10g pink clay
20 drops your chosen essential oils (page 303)
5 drops of rose water or orange blossom water
1 tsp jojoba or coconut oil
2g dried rose petals

Elevate it (choose from):
2g lemongrass
1 tbsp magnesium powder or magnesium flakes
1 stick of charcoal
2 tbsp arrowroot (for oily skin)

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, and stir to combine with a wooden spoon or spatula. Transfer to a jar or an airtight container and store in the bathroom. To use, add 2 small handfuls to a full bath and use your hand to move the powder around the water, encouraging it to dissolve. Once dissolved, hop in.

You could also make individual bath-soak bags:
Place 2 tablespoons of the mixture into the centre of a muslin cloth or nut-milk bag and tie it together tightly using an elastic band, hairband or piece of string. Drop it into the bath and leave it to soak alongside you.
